About DG MarketplaceTM
This section provides an overview of DG Marketplace. Topics include:
The DG Marketplace mission is to provide distributed geneation resources for DG customers,
manufacturers and retailers and electric utitlies.
DG Marketplace sessions are easy to conduct and require no special technical
knowledge. Users provide a limited amount of information on a facility or market segment,
then DG Marketplace software takes over, behind the scenes estimating 8760
hourly electric and thermal end-use loads, considering electric and natural
gas rate structures and evaluating DG technologies and applications for each
individual site.
DG Marketplace is committed to providing objective and independent assessments
of DG applications. Jackson Associates (JA), developer of DG Marketplace,
values its reputation for providing objective, state-of-the art energy-related
information and analysis. JA corporate clients include more than 100 electric
and gas utilities, retail energy providers, power marketers, energy service
companies, DG manufacturers and retailers, investment companies, research
organizations, state and federal government agencies and other energy-related
organizations (see Jackson Associates).
DG Marketplace analysis
is
confidential and is never disclosed unless specifically requested by the
user; see the privacy policy for more detail).
DG Marketplace brings together, in a single independent and objective online
process, all of the information and analysis required to complete an initial
economic screening of DG systems for actual sites or for market segments (i.e., sites defined with
"typical" characteristics) in any location in the US.
DG Marketplace analysis includes:
-
Objective, Independent, Reliable Information - Jackson Associates
has been providing independent economic and energy analysis to energy industry
customers, providers and regulatory agencies since 1982.
-
8760 Hourly Loads-Based Analysis - DG Marketplace applies optional
user-supplied site-specific information along with 8760 hourly electric and
thermal load characteristics from MAISY,
a database of more than one million utility customer records, in a
statistical/engineering analysis to determine each site's 8760 electric and
thermal loads. (Hourly loads are also available as a separate product with end use and 8,760 hourly detail. See
Hourly Loads).
-
Detailed DG Technical Systems Analysis - Online DG analysis results
are based on the same detailed technology analysis used by DG manufacturers and suppliers.
-
Detailed Energy Bill Analysis - Energy bill savings are difficult
to calculate in many areas because of the way that DG savings interact with
complicated electric and natural gas rates. DG Marketplace software applies
rate structures or rate models directly to 8760 hourly site energy use before
and after installation of DG systems to estimate energy bill savings.
DG Marketplace software is unique in its ability to integrate as much or
as little actual information as available in each site or market segment analysis. At one extreme,
users can specify only a building type, size and location and conduct DG
site analysis using "typical" characteristics for the building type developed
from widely-used MAISY utility customer databases. Alternatively, users can
identify a variety of site characteristics including floor space, operating
schedules, and information from monthly electric and other energy bills to
reflect unique characteristics of actual sites.
Analysis results include annual energy use and cost analysis with and without a DG system
which has been designed, sized and applied by DG Marketplace
to meet both payback and total savings criteria. Results are also available with user-specified system
characteristics and with monthly and 8,760 hourly results and analysis.
Analysis sessions require limited information on the user's site or market segment specification. This detailed
information is maintained in confidence and never divulged to any party unless
requested by the user. See Privacy
Policy .
